Mens Italian Suits

Mens Italian suits, a byword for elegance and style. If you're a novice in the world of menswear in general, and business suits in particular, the first thing you need to know is that the Italian suit doesn't just mean "made in Italy". It describes a distinctive style among mens suits, which distinguishes it from British, American and Mandarin suits.

Many Italian-style business suits are easy to spot because the jacket is double-breasted, with two rows of buttons. However, as the style has adapted with contemporary cuts, the Italian suit is now just as often found in signle breasted (pictured) as the double breasted version

The shoulders are likely to be padded, adding to the clean lines of this classic suit style. Unlike many suit jackets, mens italian suits typically have no vents (the slits found in other styles, either on each side or on the back centre seam). This contributes to the distinctive silhouette of these suits, which is sleek and snug-fitting and accentuates the lines. The jacket lapels are likely to be wider and less understated than those on other styles you will see in ranges of mens suits.

Although trousers of this style of suit are usually pleated at the front waistband, the tone of the style is set mainly by the jacket, and pleated front trousers are not de rigueur.

You will also find that within the genre of Italian business suits there are variations in the specific cuts favored by individual designers, who like to give their own ranges something that is distinctly their own.

If you want a business suit that is dressy, classy and elegant, this is an excellent choice. Depending on your budget and your commitment to fashion, you could opt for a designer label. Armani, Versace and all the top Italian designers have offered their individual take on the classic style, with which the name of Armani is especially associated. Though Armani in particular have helped define the style, the Italian suit was being made at least twenty years earlier by top Italian tailors.

One of the claims to fame of this style of mens business suits is that it is cut to make the most of a man's physique, and can conceal physical imperfections. Some experts recommend the Italian-style suit for taller men, noting that the double-breasted jacket emphasizes the breadth of the chest and upper torso, rather than height.

Other sartorial gurus say that it depends on the individual body shape, and that you don't have to be six foot tall to consider wearing the double-breasted jacket style. However, among other mens suits available, the italian cut is not ideal for men with larger waists, and the vent-less jacket design, which fits relatively snugly around the midriff, isn't ideal for all body shapes.

Mens italian suits are striking and are therefore at the more formal end of the spectrum of business suits. Depending on your job, they are not the first thing to think of when looking for mens suits for everyday office wear, though they are perfect for special work occasions.

For evening wear they are a stylish solution for a dressy occasion, and a classically well-cut suit will serve your wardrobe needs for years to come.
